Beyond the Horizon

Continuing our long-term collaboration with IAP Fine Art, in 2019 we worked alongside David Tregunna on a major museum retrospective of Chris Gollon’s music-related work, entitled Beyond the Horizon, at the Huddersfield Art Gallery. In 2005, the gallery was the first museum to purchase one of Gollon’s music-related works, ‘Einstein & The Jealous Monk (after Bob Dylan)’, which now hangs in the permanent collection, alongside works by Francis Bacon, Henry Moore and Jacob Epstein.

Materials for the retrospective included an exhibition catalogue, exhibition graphics a CD featuring music by Eleanor McEvoy and a new film installation combining a collage of Chris Gollon’s imagery with the Sleaford Mods’ track ‘Firewall’ (Eton Alive album, 2019).

‘Firewall’ was also shown at the Louder Than Words Festival, Manchester, in November 2019, followed by a Q&A with David Tregunna (Producer) and Mark Calderbank (Director), which discussed how the images changed the meaning of the lyrics and vice versa, taking both song and imagery into new directions. During 2020, the film has also been selected for screening by both the Paris Short Film Festival and the Berlin Flash Film Festival.
